Your hard work, determination, and enthusiasm were the magical combination. The money raised in 2007 exceeds years past – and exceeds our 2007 fundraising goal of $150,000. To date, the grand total for 2007 is $161,857.
In an upcoming newsletter we will share the specifics of where the donations are going and additional information about the recipient organizations.

Ovarian Cancer in the news

Ovarian cancer has been in the news again recently - this time the message was from three cancer organizations issuing a joint statement about what women need to watch for. The organizations are the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, and American Cancer Society. Although the symptoms listed may be caused by something much less serious, it is still better to seek out medical counsel if these symptoms persist daily beyond a few weeks. The symptoms are as follows: bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency). If these symptoms represent a change from normal for your body, it is always advisable to talk to a doctor. [top]

Ovarian cancer mentioned on campaign trail

Barack Obama, an original co-sponsor of Johanna's Law, talks about ovarian cancer on his campaign web site. It will be interesting to see if this cause close to his heart will become part of the election dialogue as the presidential race continues. It is heartening that someone is bringing this topic to the table and we hope other presidential candidates will embrace the cause in addition to other important women's issues.
