DALLAS RIDE: February 19, 2012 9:00am -- 3:00pm
in the Zale Auditorium of the Jewish Community Center.
Join us for the first annual Ride to Change the Future to be held at the Jewish Community Center on February 19, 2012. This fundraising event is unique in that it is chaired by 3 ovarian cancer survivors in different phases of survivorship, and the money raised will go to 3 different charities that address the concerns of ovarian cancer survivors and women everywhere.........awareness, early detection, cures & better treatment options for women with ovarian cancer. Specifically, the 6 hour indoor cycling event will benefit ovarian cancer research through donations to Ovarian Cycle, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, and The Clearity Foundation. Our goal is to raise $ 150,000.
Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecological cancer affecting 1 in 70 women. Today more than 70% of ovarian cancer patients will die of their disease, compared to less than 20% of breast cancer patients. When ovarian cancer is detected and treated early, the five year survival rate is greater than 92%. Sadly though, symptoms are vague and subtle so most patients are diagnosed at later stages and less than 50% will survive longer than 5 years after their diagnosis.
That is why we need your help. We want to bring awareness to the disease symptoms and provide funds for research to promote early detection and better treatment options.
To participate in the event, registration fees are $40 with a minimum fundraising amount of $500 for each individual participant. Or, you can form a relay team for the 6 hour bike ride where each rider on the team has a minimum fundraising requirement of $250 each. All training rides are included with your registration.
All training rides are free with your registration and are as follows: January 28, 29 and February 4, 5, 11, 12 RSVP to ovariancycledallas@gmail.com to reserve your bike in our training rides. All Saturday training rides begin at 12 noon, the Sunday training rides begin at 1PM at the Jewish Community Center spinning studio, 7900 Northaven Road, Dallas, Texas

Participation fees:
Registration: $40 + minimum fundraising commitment*
*Minimum fundraising commitment:
An INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT riding all six hours of the event on one bike must raise a minimum contribution amount of $500.
RELAY TEAM MEMBERS sharing a bike and time spent on the bike must raise a minimum contribution of $250 per team member.
FUNDRAISING MINIMUMS MUST BE MET PRIOR TO THE FINAL RIDE!
