Frequently Asked QuestionsDo I have to be a member of one of the participating clubs? It depends on the event. Unless otherwise noted, most clubs allow non-members to train for free during the 6 week training program. Please check the club schedules on the Participating Health Clubs link to the left to find out what training options are available for non-members. How much money do I have to raise? Each rider must raise a minimum charitable contribution of $400 to reserve a bike for the Ride to Change the Future. Contributions can be raised from friends and family and all contributions are tax deductible as provided by the I.R.S How far/long/intense is the ride? The Ride to Change the Future is 100 (century) virtual miles, remember we're on indoor bikes. It takes an average of 6 hours to do a century ride outdoors so our Ride to Change the Future is also 6 hours. Don't worry, we take breaks. We ride for 55 minutes then break for 5 and so on. And don’t be intimidated--you can do it at your own pace, or you can share the distance with team members. We have great instructors who make sure the event is fun and exciting. After 6 weeks of training, you'll be cruising through the "finish line." Tell me more about sharing the distance with a team. Each team is assigned one bike to share during training and at the final ride. This means that only one person from the team can be on a bike at any given point. If there are extra bikes available during the training rides then they are available on a first come, first serve basis and at the discretion of the trainer. Each member of a team must raise $200. How does the program work? You train for 6 weeks, ride hard for one day. During the week, you are encouraged to attend the cycling classes at your gym that are open to Ovarian Cycle riders. Each Saturday during training, the clubs hold endurance rides. These rides build in length throughout the training period, helping you gain the strength you need for the final Ride to Change the Future. My schedule is crazy, do I have to do the training? No, if 6 hours on a bike is like a walk in the park for you, by all means just join us for the Ride to Change the Future. You will still need to request a club when you register so that we can reserve a spot for you during the Ride to Change the Future. Is the event only in Atlanta? No. In addition to our home base in Atlanta, there are also events this scheduled for Birmingham, Alabama and Broomfield, Colorado. I'd like to hold an Ovarian Cycle event in my town, how do I get started?Just give us a call! We'd love to talk with you about how to get an event started in your neck of the woods.
