Ready, Set, Ride!
The theme for this year's ride is fight. For 5 1/2 years my mom did just that - and lost. But, I know, without a single doubt, that she would expect me to continue that fight in her honor, in her memory, in order to allow other women the chance to NOT have to fight.
Ovarian cancer is a horrible disease that is taking too many women from us far too early. Over the past 7 years, a lot of amazing work has been done to find this much needed early detection test but much more is needed. I will fight through the pain in my legs on April 24th knowing that there are women in the room with me who are fighting a much larger battle. I can only hope that my being there provides them with hope and inspiration to continue on their journey.
I miss my mom every single day. I never knew how hard life would be without her in it but I know she's proud of the work I'm doing and would expect me to continue the fight.
