Unless otherwise noted, most clubs allow non-members to train for free during the 6 week training program. Each participant must raise a minimum charitable contribution as established by Ovarian Cycle and the organizers of the event. Minimum amounts vary by city, so consult the home page of the city you are interested in to find out what the minimum requirement is. Contributions can be raised from friends and family and all contributions are tax deductible as provided by the I.R.S. top... How far/long/intense is the ride? Ride to Change the Future is 100 (century) virtual miles and is completed in 6 hours. Remember we're on indoor bikes. It takes an average of 6 hours to do a century ride outdoors so our Ride to Change the Future is also 6 hours. Don't worry, we take breaks. We ride for 55 minutes then break for 5 and so on. And don’t be intimidated--you can do it at your own pace, or you can share the distance with team members. We have great instructors who make sure the event is fun and exciting. After 6 weeks of training, you'll be cruising through the "finish line." Ready. Set. Ride! is structured to be completed in 3 hours or less and the “virtual” distance covered is 300 miles or less. Each hour there will be a 5 minute break so total time spent riding is 55 minutes of each hour. This ride is less intense than the Ride to Change the Future, but equally rewarding to participate in. top... Tell me more about sharing the distance with a team. Each team is assigned one bike to share during training and at the final ride. This means that only one person from the team can be on a bike at any given point. If there are extra bikes available during the training rides then they are available on a first come, first serve basis and at the discretion of the instructor. You train for the number of weeks provided in the training program then ride hard for one day. During the week, you are encouraged to attend the cycling classes at your assigned gym that are open to Ovarian Cycle riders. Each weekend during training, the clubs hold endurance rides. These rides build in length throughout the training period, helping you gain the strength you need for the final ride. top... My schedule is crazy, do I have to do the training? No, if riding for 3-6 hours on a bike is like a walk in the park for you, by all means just join us for the Ride to Change the Future.
